Medium Kantele from wild cherry
This native wild cherry (from Northern Germany) has a vivid picture, as can be seen on the photos very well. Wild Cherry is a hard wood, and this is especially hard because it is grown on dry ash soil. The soundboard could therefore be grounded extremely thin (1,5 - 2 mm), which makes the sound very brilliant.
Finished with best bio. paint and waxes.
String material: phosphor bronze with steel core (for braided strings / low tones), phosphor bronze wire and steel strings (for middle and treble / high tones). The phosphor bronze gives the instrument an earthy sound. The string material can be changed on request: bronze, brass, silver or steel (bearing steel for example, offers the brightest sound as it is very rich in overtones).
Extra:
For the sound hole in the center of the instrument are a wide selection of rosettes according to traditional patterns ("Book of Celtic Ornaments") available, or according to my own designs. Your own ideas are especially welcome; I like to work them out according to your design - without surcharge!
The rosette in this kantele is from my series "Zodiac rosettes": Aquarius
